Ten kidnapped victims, including a nine year old girl by the armed bandits that invaded Darka and Wuni- Gadi villages in Gudun Karya ward of Kuje Area Council have been rescued by the joint security operation led by the Nigerian Police.
However, an officer with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence corps (NSCDC) lost his life in the operation while two police personnel and a vigilante` officer are still missing.
According to the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, eight of the kidnap victims were rescued Sunday night while the other two were rescued early Monday morning describing the operation as successful.
Bello said the operation was in two phases which included the rescue of the kidnapped victims and the ongoing vigorous patrol of the
forests and mountains of the FCT which the bandits have made a safe haven to operate.

The minister said the mountainous area covers about 1,200km and calls for steady patrol to make it inhabitable to the bandits. A statement by Haruna Usman, Special Assistant to Kuje Council Chairman, Abdullahi Galadima, said they were released unhurt following the exchanged of fire between the gunmen and security agents.
The victims, which were kidnapped on Monday 14th and Friday 18th in Darka and Huni Gade communities of the council were rescued in Zagabutu forest as gun battle between security agents and kidnappers, but the security men over powered them, paving way for safe released of those in their captivity.
The statement said one Uche Onumodu, (two star civil defence officer) lost his life as results of shock from the Gun battle, with two police officers and one vigilance officer way about yet to be unknown as at the time of this report.
