Sallah celebration generated 34,000 metric tonnes of refuse in Lagos —LAWMA
In spite of the current economic meltdown in the country, management of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority, LAWMA, has disclosed that a total 34, 000 metric tonnes of refuse were collected during the last Eid-el-Kabir, Sallah celebration across the metropolis.
Executive Chairman, LAWMA, Olumuyiwa Adejokun, told Saturday Vanguard that 17,000 metric tonnes of refuse were gathered on each day of the public holiday. “Between Monday and Tuesday, public holiday to observe Sallah, the agency, with Private Sector Participants, PSP, recorded evacuation of 17,000 metric tonnes of refuse generated per day for the two days, with a total of 34, 000 metric tonnes”
